On the 7th December over 15,000 government officials from 192 countries will meet in Copenhagen to thrash out an agreement on climate change. This stands to be the most important environmental conference ever and its significance has caused Debatewise, in partnership with IDEA and The British Council, to form the Global Youth Panel.

The panel
The Global Youth Panel will consist of 1000 young people aged between 15-30, from more than 100 different countries. These will be proactive and passionate people who wish to have their say on events which arise from the Copenhagen conference.

How the Global Youth Panel will work?
Everyone on the panel will be emailed once or twice a day with a list of motions for debate. These motions will be formed by Global Youth Panel Coordinators from the issues that arise from the conference. Things such as "Is America's proposal for carbon emissions at 370ppm the best we're going to get?". Any panel member with something to say can come to Debatewise.com and enter their arguments. They can add to or edit each other's points, create new points and add comments. Any panel member who wants to read the debates and vote will be able to do so too.

These debates will be taking place in collaboration with The Independent, a highly respected and national daily British newspaper. The debates will be mirrored on their website which means that the GYP will get significant media recognition and has the support of a major British daily behind it.

How can you join?
Every country can introduce a quota of 20 people to the GYP. So be quick.
